katsina state

Katsina State was created in 1987 from Kaduna State. The city of Katsina is the capital of the State from which the Katsina State derives its name.

The Emirates of Katsina and Daura are two of seven(7) Hausa States.

Katsina State is a transnational boundary State with Maradi and Zinder Region of the Republic of Niger to the North.

The city of Katsina contains the ancient complex of "Gidan Korau" and the "Gobaran Minaret", the city of Katsina was an integral centre of commerce in sub-Saharan republic and important for the Kanem-Bornu and Mali Kingdoms which ruled the city before the Islamic conquests of Usman Dan Fodio.

Katsina Emirate was handed over to British control without as opposed to conquest and the city was an important outpost and remained a major commercial centre during colonization of Nigeria.

Hausa and Fulani are languages spoken in Katsina State and the traditional rulers were titled Sarkin and Waziri's before the Islamic Caliphate of Usman Dan Fodio.
